Elections for the Florida Democratic Party Chair are scheduled for Saturday December 9th in Orlando. For those unfamiliar with this byzantine process, elected and appointed State Party leaders from across Florida will cast weighted votes to decide the next Chair. These votes are divided between a committeeman and committeewoman woman from each county.
On Thursday, November 30th, the Miami-Dade Democratic Party hosted a forum for the four candidates seeking to be the next FDP Chair:
- Alma Gonzalez, Member, DNC & Hillsborough County Committeewoman
- Stacey Patel, Chairwoman, Brevard County Democratic Party
- Terrie Rizzo, Chairwoman, Palm Beach County Democratic Party
- Monica Russo, President, SEIU Florida
Florida Action Cast host Matt Mawhinney co-moderated the forum along with Miami-Dade Democratic Party Chairman Juan Cuba and Florida Democratic Party Treasurer & Miami-Dade State Committeewoman Francesca Menes.
